This is a fully in-office position based in downtown Calgary, with potential for travel off-site. The role offers a diverse scope across safety, physical security, and technology, making it ideal for someone who enjoys variety and being hands-on in multiple areas.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

The key job functions are:

  • Support and maintain corporate safety and security programs across office and off-site locations.
  • Oversee and administer the organization’s field safety program, ensuring completion, compliance, and follow-up on identified concerns.
  • Coordinate physical security systems, including access control, alarms, and closed-circuit television (CCTV), working with third-party vendors as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining and improving emergency response plans, site manuals, and business continuity frameworks.
  • Provide support during internal and external events, including occasional after-hours coordination for security and safety coverage.
  • Act as a point of contact for security-related incidents, including responding to alarm notifications and coordinating appropriate follow-up.
  • Conduct safety audits, site reviews, and general risk assessments across multiple locations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors, and contractors.
  • Participate in incident reviews and assist with investigations as required.
  • Support cybersecurity initiatives in collaboration with internal technical resources.
  • Maintain internal documentation and communication platforms related to safety and security programs.
  • Chair the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Security Management, or a related discipline is considered an asset.
  • Relevant certifications such as CPR or First Aid are considered an asse

Qualifications: 

  • Clean background check.
  • Valid driver’s licence with access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability be on-call for security-related matters.
  • Ability to work overtime for after hours events as needed.
  • Strong understanding of physical security systems and general safety practices.
  • High level of discretion and ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a safety, security, or related role, ideally in a corporate setting.
  • Exposure to physical security systems such as alarms, access control, or CCTV is required.
  • Experience working with safety programs, hazard assessments, or compliance documentation.

Skills:

  • Communication: Clear and professional communication style with the ability to navigate sensitive situations.
  • Judgment: Strong situational awareness and practical decision-making skills.
  • Technical Aptitude: Comfortable working with systems, software, and security-related technologies.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, contractors, and external partners.
  • Adaptability: Capable of managing a variety of responsibilities across safety, security, and technology.
  • Accountability: Takes ownership of responsibilities and follows through on commitments.

Base Salary: $65,000-75,000+/- per year

  • Salary is reflective of experience and qualifications, with flexibility for the right candidate.

  • Time in lieu is provided for any additional hours worked during peak event periods.

Work Hours:

  • Monday to Friday.
  • 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM.
  • Fully in-office role with occasional travel to local sites.
  • Participation in an on-call rotation, with rare requirement for in-person response.

  • This opportunity does not include relocation. It will be the responsibility of the candidate should relocation be required.
