Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC)?
A Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) is an advisory committee of employees and employers who work together to establish and maintain healthy and safe workplaces.
Why does About Staffing have a JHSC?
The Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) brings together employers and employees to address health and safety-related concerns within the workplace. The JHSC allows workers to participate in health and safety concerns and helps support the three basic rights of workers: The right to know, the right to participate, and the right to refuse dangerous work.
How is my health and safety assured at About Staffing?
About Staffing and its clients have a shared responsibility and duty to candidates to uphold all occupational health and safety regulations. Through an in-depth health and safety evaluation of each client, we perform hazard assessments, site inspections, and obtain emergency response plans. We also encourage candidates to report any issues or concerns on-site. This information is reviewed and safety concerns are addressed regularly through our Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC). Through all this, we can assure your safety while at work.
Will this have any effect on my future placements?
Absolutely not. All concerns, complaints, and inquiries are processed confidentially without any repercussions on candidates that bring occupational health and safety concerns to light.
What are some examples of concerns that should be reported?
- A hazard on a jobsite.
- Any near miss (an accident almost occurred).
- Unsafe work practices.
- Lack of training and/or orientations.
- Health and safety questions or general inquiries.
- Any accidents or incidents, but please call so we can assist immediately.
