Our client, a highly regarded boutique law firm, is seeking a Junior Associate (Litigation) to join their practice. This position is well-suited to a lawyer with 1–3 years of post-call experience who is looking to further develop their courtroom advocacy skills within a sophisticated and results-driven litigation environment.
In this role, you will support a broad range of litigation matters, including drafting pleadings and briefs, conducting detailed legal research, and assisting with the preparation of hearings and trials. You will also engage directly with clients and opposing counsel, attend court proceedings, and contribute to the development of case strategy. The position offers meaningful, hands-on experience with increasing responsibility as you progress within the firm.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The key job functions are:
- Manage a diverse caseload of litigation files from initial intake through to resolution, ensuring all deadlines and procedural requirements are met.
- Draft pleadings, affidavits, briefs, and other legal documents with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Conduct legal research using various platforms and summarize findings into clear, actionable insights for case strategy.
- Attend court appearances, chambers applications, mediations, and discoveries as required.
- Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and third parties in a professional and timely manner.
- Collaborate with senior lawyers on case strategy, while also demonstrating the ability to independently move files forward.
- Prepare for and assist with trials, including organizing evidence, preparing witnesses, and developing argument materials.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date file management practices in accordance with firm standards.
Education:
- Law degree required.
Qualifications:
- Membership in good standing with a Canadian Law Society.
- Demonstrated interest in litigation, with exposure to courtroom or advocacy-based work.
- Strong understanding of civil procedure and litigation processes.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Experience:
- 1-3 years of post-call experience required
- Litigation experience required, with a demonstrated commitment to developing within this area of practice.
Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present arguments clearly and persuasively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to both detail and broader case strategy.
- Effective time management and organizational skills, with the ability to independently prioritize workload.
- Interpersonal skills that support building trust with clients and maintaining positive working relationships.
- Adaptability and resilience in managing evolving case demands and deadlines.
- Proficiency with legal research tools and standard office software applications.
Base Salary: $105k – $115k per year
- Salary based on experience
- Full benefits package provided
Work Hours:
- Monday to Friday
- 8:30am – 4:30pm

- This opportunity does not include relocation. It will be the responsibility of the candidate should relocation be required.
