 Thirty years.

Three decades of placements, conversations, celebrations, challenges, growth and most importantly the people.

As we celebrate 30 years of About Staffing, we’ve been reflecting on the incredible journey that brought us here. For me, the most impactful part has been the people who walked alongside us every step of the way.

This milestone is not just about business longevity. It’s about relationships.

It’s about every member of our current team, and our past teams. Each and every person who has been part of the About Staffing family. The recruiters, the administrators, the sales teams, the managers, the support staff, the late-night problem solvers, the early morning interviewers, the people who answered phones, calmed nerves, filled impossible orders, stayed late, laughed hard, cried sometimes, the ones who kept showing up.

So first off, to every past and present team member, thank you. Sincerley.

You helped shape the culture, the reputation, you are the heart of About Staffing.

Over the years, staffing looked very different than it does today.

When we started, cold sales calls made from lists and phone books. The real paper ones that were dropped off at your door once a year, not an online search. There were office visits, handshakes, paper resumes, fax machines, coffee meetings, and first impressions that mattered deeply. We walked into offices hoping someone would give us five minutes to talk and explain who we were.

Sometimes we got the meeting.
Sometimes we didn’t.

Sometimes we made the placement.
Sometimes we didn’t. And we had to learn the hard lessons.

There were moments that were funny, awkward, chaotic, inspiring, and unforgettable. We’ve had job orders come in at impossible hours, candidates disappear at the worst possible moments, office equipment and internet bumps happen at exactly the wrong time, and events that didn’t go exactly as planned. But, we kept going, and kept trying.

Because About Staffing has never just been about resumes and job postings.

It has always been about people.

About helping employers grow their business.
Helping candidates find confidence in their own abilities.
Helping families pay bills.
Helping businesses survive tough times, and trust me there have been many of those!
Helping someone get a second chance to start over in a new industry, or an opportunity they never thought possible.

Over 30 years, we’ve also been fortunate to build relationships with incredible advisors, bankers, lawyers, and community partners who supported us behind the scenes and believed in what we were building. Being connected to community has always mattered to me and the team.

From fundraisers to sponsorships, community initiatives (flipping pancakes), to volunteer work, we’ve tried to show up wherever we could to support local and make a difference. We’ve celebrated together at parties and events, shared flowers during hard times and happy times,  delivered  local treats to valued partners, supported not for profit groups. All of these things, and more have shaped memories far beyond the office walls and beyond our four walls.

There have been thousands of placements over the years, and we have been thrilled for every single one of them. Each one representing a story, a transition, a risk, a hope, and often a life-changing opportunity. We get to follow the story from the employers side, learn why this role is important and follow it through to the employees side and why they would be the perfect fit. We get to see it all, and be part of it all.

To every employer who trusted us.
To every job seeker who believed in us.
To every team member who gave their energy and heart to this company.
To every partner, supporter, and friend of About Staffing,

Thank you. Really, thank you.

Thirty years does not happen without resilience, loyalty, and an incredible amount of care from countless people along the way.

We are proud of where we started.
Proud of what we built.
And I am incredibly grateful for everyone who helped make About Staffing what it is today.

Here’s to the memories.
The lessons.
The laughter.
The challenges.
The relationships.
And the next chapter ahead. We have so much more to do and we are happy for you to be a part of our next chapter.

With gratitude,

Sharlene Massie, About Staffing
