We are seeking a Global Payroll Team Lead for our downtown Calgary client. This is a temporary placement at this time, but has the potential to evolve into a full time permanent role.

ABOUT the Position

Reporting directly to the EVP Corporate Services, you will lead all aspects of global payroll operations as well as integrate with HR, Finance/Accounting, and other functions. You will be responsible for delivering timely, accurate and compliant payrolls, improving end-to-end processes, and providing analysis & reporting where needed.

Key Responsibilities:
∑ Oversee global payroll function
∑ Analyze, prepare and assist with the inputting of payroll data for Canada and USA, using automated systems Ceridian PowerPay (CAN) and Ceridian Redwood (US)
∑ Analyze, update, reconcile and confirm processing of all international payrolls
∑ Taxable benefits data entry and reconciliation for payroll purposes
∑ Manage US workers compensation as well as regional workers comp reporting and reconciliations as needed
∑ Perform various journal entries, account reconciliations, and provides general ledger support
∑ Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.)
∑ Complete and maintain legislated payroll reporting requirements
∑ Prepare and maintain employee reports and new-hire reports
∑ Oversee payroll admin specialist
∑ Ensure accurate & timely year-end and tax processing for both Canada and US


∑ PCP or CPM, or working towards certification
∑ 5+ years in a similar Team Lead, Payroll or Senior Payroll Specialist position
∑ Preference given to candidates with a diploma or degree in a related field, ideally in Business/Accounting
∑ Exceptional understanding of accounting concepts relating to payroll and benefits
∑ At least 3 years experience functioning at an Senior Payroll Specialist level
∑ Exposure and understanding of applicable Canadian and US payroll laws and regulations
∑ Working experience in US pension plans, specifically Simple IRA from a payroll perspective
∑ Exposure and understanding of applicable global payroll laws and regulations will be considered an asset
∑ Exposure to Ceridian PowerPay (CAN) and Ceridian Redwood (US), an asset
∑ High attention to detail, accurate and respectful of confidentiality
∑ Strong organization and planning skills, with excellent written and verbal communication
∑ Advanced MS office skills
