We have an exciting opportunity available for an Accountant with our downtown Oil & Gas client.

ABOUT The Company
Our client is a supplier of drilling fluids with a history of over 20 years of oilfield service experience managing worldwide operations.

About the Position:
Reporting to the Canadian Controller, the staff accountant will maintain up to date, accurate accounting records for Canada’s operations and produce timely and accurate monthly financial statements for Canada including statements for WCBU, ECBU and Corporate.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare all invoicing for intercompany charges.
Maintain YTD expense schedules for all intercompany charges.
Receive and enter cash receipts and work with Accounts Receivable supervisor ensuring collection efforts are diligent on overdue accounts.
Perform bank reconciliations - Canadian and US accounts
Manage all US exchange – ensure accuracy and balance of currency.
Maintain the general ledgers for Canada and prepare Canada’s financial statements and other reports in accordance with schedules.
Monitor pre-paid accounts and amortize to income as appropriate.
Manage asset accounts and depreciation schedules for monthly and YTD additions and expense.
Prepare month end – approximately 80 journal entries to be completed monthly.
Balance Sheet Reconciliations
Prepare intercompany bank wire transfers as required.
Monitor accounts receivable and WIP (work in progress) to prepare an estimated collection schedule at the beginning of each week for the CFO, Canadian Controller and Corporate Controller.
Prepare monthly returns for GST/HST, BC PST, SK PST and Non-Resident withholding tax
Provide support and training to the other accounting staff including cross training to ensure depth in the group and the ability to stay current during periods of vacation, illness or other periods of staff absence.

You possess an accounting degree and have a minimum of 5 years related accounting experience, with at least 2 years in the oilfield services industry
Knowledge of GAAP.
Computer expertise - application and integration of computer software for technical analysis and support, e.g. Excel, Accounting Systems
Experience with Dynamics AX or other large ERP system is an asset
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
